Who doesn't loves a few extra shots per charge of the batteries you have? This DIY is pretty simple and you don't need any special tools for it.
I won't get in extense details of why is is bad for a battery to be hot while being charged, I'll just say that it shortens the life cycle of it.
Before starting we need rechargeable batteries. I personally use only Sony batteries due to their excellent quality (a different thing are the sony laptop batteries).

Next we need a battery charger that's not fixed to the power outlet connector. Most DSLR battery chargers are this way. In my case I'll use a sony charger.

Ok I have all the things, so, how do I get more shots per cycle? Using heatsinks. If you're not a geek you probably must know someone who is and has a couple heatsinks laying around waiting for a new home. The best is to get two heatsinks, althought one will work well. In case you don't have a geek friend you can buy one or for less than a buck each in ebay.

Finally, all you have to do is a sandwich between your battery charger and the heatsinks. This will disipate the heat and will extend their life cycle.

PS: Most of the heatsinks will have a cut in the middle wich dobles itself as a pretty useful cable holder.

That's it for this week. Hope this works as much as it did for me and my friends. Comments are appreciated.
